Sometimes life feels like an uphill climb with a heavy pack, but what if that pack isn’t just a burden? What if it’s actually the equipment you’ll need to rescue someone else later on? Daily Devotional for March 27, Strength for the Impossible.

“Who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction…” – 2 Corinthians 1:4 (ESV)

The “Credential” of Struggle

We rarely sign up for serious difficulties, yet they often find us. In those moments, it’s easy to feel like God has looked away. But there is a profound mystery in the Kingdom: Your greatest pain often becomes your greatest platform.

God sometimes allows us to walk through deep valleys so that we can become “experts in comfort.” When you come out the other side, you won’t just have sympathy for others who are suffering; you’ll have the authority of someone who has been there. Your struggle is creating a “credential” that will allow you to reach people no one else can.

The Divine Calibration

If you are facing a challenge today that feels like it might break you, hold onto this promise: God is a Master Calibrator. He promises never to allow you to go through more than you can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13).

When the situation feels “impossible,” it usually means it’s impossible for us, but not for the Grace at work in us. If the door to the trial was opened, the supply of strength to endure it was delivered at the same time. You aren’t just “handling it”; you are being built by it.

Looking at the “Resume” of Faith

When the current giant looks too big, the best thing we can do is look backward. We aren’t the first ones to face a “Goliath.”

David saw a giant and remembered God’s faithfulness with the lion and the bear. The Saints of past centuries faced fires and floods with a peace that surpassed understanding.

Their lives are a testament to God’s ability to give “impossible” strength to ordinary people. Instead of letting the obstacle defeat your spirit, take joy in the fact that you are standing in a long line of overcomers. You aren’t a victim of your circumstances; you are a giant-slayer in training.

Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for being my strength when I feel weak. I trust that You know exactly how much I can bear and that You are with me in this struggle. Help me to see my difficulties as a training ground for future ministry. Give me the courage of David and the perspective to look past the giant and see Your greatness. I choose to defeat this obstacle through Your power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

To You

Think of one person you know who is currently going through a struggle you’ve already survived. Send them a quick text or give them a call today. Use your “credential of comfort” to lighten their load for a moment.
