Today, in the Daily Devotional for March 28, “Exchange Frustration for Grace,” we’re looking at a common source of high blood pressure: the “I’ve got this” syndrome. We were designed to run on the high-octane fuel of God’s grace, yet we often try to push the car ourselves.

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” – Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
The Frustration Trap
Have you ever noticed that the harder you try to “figure out” a complicated problem, the more confused and upset you become? That’s usually a sign that you’ve slipped into “works mode.”
We often get frustrated because we are trying to manage a life that was designed to be lived by grace.
Trying to solve a spiritual or emotional dilemma with purely human logic is like trying to fix a computer with a hammer; it just wasn’t built for that. Frustration is your internal “check engine” light telling you that you’ve disconnected from the Source.
The Three-Word Prayer
When you hit that wall of frustration, you don’t need a ten-point plan or a five-year strategy. You need a pivot. The most powerful thing you can do in a stressful moment is to stop and say:
“Lord, give me grace.”
In this context, grace isn’t just a “thank you” before a meal; it is God’s power and ability flowing into your situation. By asking for grace, you are admitting that your own “works” aren’t enough and inviting His supernatural power to take over the heavy lifting.
Faith is the Pipe, Grace is the Water
Think of faith as the plumbing and grace as the water. You can have the most expensive pipes in the world (lots of “faith”), but if they aren’t connected to the reservoir (God’s grace), nothing is going to come out of the faucet.
Faith is simply the channel through which we receive. If we stay closed off, trying to be self-sufficient and “tough,” we block the very help we’re asking for. To receive, we have to be open.
We have to trust that He is close, that He knows the “fine print” of our situation, and that He is already working out the best possible outcome.

Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I confess that I’ve been trying to “figure it all out” on my own. I’m tired of the frustration and the confusion that come from relying on my own strength. Right now, I stop. I ask for Your grace, Your power, and Your ability to flood my current situation. I trust that You are close and that You have a plan far better than mine. I let go and let You lead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
To You
The next time you feel that “knot” of frustration in your stomach today, don’t try to think your way out of it. Literally stop what you are doing, take a deep breath, and whisper, “Lord, I need Your grace right here.” Then, step back and watch how the atmosphere changes.
