Off the Treadmill – Daily Devotional for March 29

Off the Treadmill daily Devotional for March 29

It’s a pleasure to spend a few moments with you on March 29. Today, we’re hitting the “stop” button on the spiritual treadmill. If you’re tired of trying to be “good enough” for God, this is your breath of fresh air.

Off the Treadmill – Daily Devotional for March 29

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” – 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV)

A Gift, Not a Wage

Most of us treat righteousness like a high-stakes performance review. We think if we follow enough rules, we’ll finally earn God’s approval.

But trying to earn “right-standing” with God through human effort is a recipe for agony and frustration. It’s like trying to pay off a billion-dollar debt with pocket change; it’s never enough.

Righteousness is a free gift. You don’t achieve it; you receive it by faith in Jesus. When you stop striving to become right and start resting in the fact that you already are right in Christ, the internal noise of inadequacy finally goes quiet.

The Natural Result

Peace, rest, and joy aren’t goals you have to reach; they are the natural by-products of knowing you are fully accepted. You don’t do good things so God will love you; you do them because He already does.

Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, I’m stepping off the performance treadmill. I stop trying to earn what You have already given me. I receive Your righteousness today by faith. Thank You that I am loved and accepted because of Jesus. Let Your peace flood my heart as I rest in Your grace. Amen.

To You

Today, whenever you feel “not good enough,” stop and say: “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.” Say it until it feels truer than your insecurities.
