Keep God’s Word in your Heart – Prayer for October 18. Sometimes the devil attacks us because we listen and keep the Word of God. Mark 4:17 tells of people who hear the word of God and hold out for a while, but “as soon as they are distressed or even persecuted because of the Word, they turn away from it.”
Bible Verse for Today
Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear. (Philippians 1:12-14)
The devil knows that biblical truths make us strong, and he wants to stop them before we pass them on to others. That’s why you must keep the Word of God in your heart and resist the devil as soon as he tries to steal it from you. By doing so, the difficulties the enemy brings into your life can even help others find God.
The apostle Paul wrote that God allowed him to go through many things. Other Christians gained new courage and confidence and fearlessly spread the message of God. Even during his imprisonment, it became clear just how persistent Paul was and how he made use of God.
To be able to help others, we, too, will have to endure many things. But if we confidently adhere to the faith, God will succeed, and our example will encourage others along the way.
Keep God’s Word in your Heart Prayer for Today
God, I want to be with you and your Word every day. Use the difficulties I experience to strengthen me and help me pass on the Bible truths to the people around me. I promise to keep God’s Word in my heart. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
