Today, January 2, is a beautiful day, and we are starting the second day of the New year. The devotional for today gives us an excellent text from Psalm 89.
Devotional for Today January 2
“I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known
through all generations.
I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.” (Psalm 89: 1-2)
Oh, how much joy in these psalms.
But in reality, some people can react negatively – maybe I don’t want to rejoice at all, maybe at this stage of my life, there’s a lot of trouble and resentment. And perhaps the lips don’t have time to sing such positive words in the psalm. And maybe I have a right to be sad.
Turn Pain and Sorrow into the Glorification of God
Yes, the truth is that you have a right to be sad and depressed. But the Word of God admonishes us not to linger too much in the dark periods of our lives. Therefore, it would be wise to turn pain and sorrow into the glorification of God.
Devotion for every day: Prayer for Today
This can be done at least by quietly endorsing the words of the psalm. Although my heart is sad today, God is truly remarkable and faithful. Although my mouth does not have the strength to say these words out loud… in my heart, I quietly agree.
It’s an excellent start to getting out of the dark stretch of life.
Let Jesus Light up your Darkness
So Psalm 89 begins with the words, “I will sing. I want to sing.” Yes, I want!
Incredibly, God allows us to express our inner disposition, enabling us to draw closer to His love and grace.
Yes, we can express our sadness and hopelessness to God as well. We can trust him and cry on his shoulder. And it allows Jesus to illuminate our depressed souls as the rising sun shines on the darkness of the night. The words of the psalm, “Your faithful love is eternal,” invite us to do so.
God remains faithful
So what is Psalm 89 about in the first part? About grace and fidelity. No matter what happens to man, God remains faithful.
The psalm encourages us and says that all creation, Heaven and Earth, North and South, witness this.
Open your eyes and ears, and understand that at least you can always trust in the work of God, in His grace and faithfulness.
Worship and declaring a position in worship will help you. Verse 16 speaks clearly: “Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord.”
Happy people know how to glorify with joy. Say a daily prayer with joy.
Prayer for Today
Lord, I want to tell you only one thing today – let there be glory and respect for you. Be worshiped. Be exalted. I say this not only with my lips. I say this with all my heart. I’ve been saying this my whole life. It was a genuinely fantastic success for me to know You, to invite you into my life. Glory to you forever. Amen.
