Education is essential, but we must never forget that the wisdom of God is necessary and more valuable than worldly education and human philosophy. Today, in our Daily Devotional for May 14, let’s reflect on placing our trust in God’s wisdom over human pride.
Daily Devotional for May 14
“For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.” – 1 Corinthians 1:21
Wisdom of God
In our fast-paced, information-driven world, education is often seen as the ultimate key to success. Degrees and accolades can certainly open doors, but we must never forget that the wisdom of God is necessary and far more valuable than any worldly education or human philosophy.
The apostle Paul, an educated man himself, firmly stated that God’s power made his preaching effective, not his academic achievements.
Human education and God’s wisdom are not contradictory but complementary. The problem arises when human pride takes over, leading us to believe that we can achieve everything ourselves without God. This is a huge mistake.
Trust in Christ
No matter what we know or who we know, our trust should be in Christ and His power.
Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 1:21 remind us that despite all the world’s wisdom, it failed to know God truly. Instead, God chose to reveal Himself and save humanity through what the world considers foolishness—preaching.
Unfortunately, the more educated some people become, the harder it is for them to embrace simple, childlike faith. Too much reliance on human reasoning can hinder our spiritual understanding because knowing God is a matter of the Spirit and the heart, not just the mind.
Faith Over Pride
As we navigate our lives, it’s crucial to let our faith rest in the power of God, not in human pride.
Whether facing decisions about your career, relationships, or personal growth, remember that God’s wisdom surpasses all human understanding. Trust in Him to guide you, provide for you, and lead you to the right path. Let your faith be your anchor, not the knowledge of the world.
