As we journey through Lent, we are reminded to reflect on our priorities and what truly matters. The devotional for the sixth day of Lent invites you to reflect on this.
Devotional for the Sixth Day of Lent
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21)
In Matthew 6:21, Jesus reminds us that where we invest our treasure is where our heart will be found. This means our actions and choices reflect what we value most. So, as we continue with our Lenten practices, let us take this time to re-examine our hearts and what we treasure most.
Getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life is easy. We are often consumed with work, school, relationships, and other responsibilities that demand our time and attention. However, amid it all, we must not forget to invest in what truly matters.

So, what is the real treasure? Is it wealth, success, power, or material possessions? While these things may bring temporary happiness, they are not the true treasure that Jesus speaks of in Matthew 6:21. The real treasure is found in our relationships with God and others.
Our relationship with God should be our top priority. Through this relationship, we find true joy, peace, and fulfillment. By investing our time and resources in prayer, reading the Bible, and worshiping with others, we are building a solid foundation for our spiritual lives.
Additionally, our relationships with others are also a precious treasure. We were not created to live in isolation but rather in a community with others. By investing in our relationships with family, friends, and even strangers, we can show the love of God to those around us.
During this Lenten season, let us re-examine our hearts and invest in the real treasure. Let us make time for prayer and worship and invest in our relationships with God and others. As we do so, we will find that our lives are filled with joy, peace, and love. We will be able to share the good news of Christ with those around us and make a positive impact on the world.
Prayer for Today
Dear Lord, as we journey through Lent, we pray that you guide us to invest our treasure where our heart truly lies. Help us prioritize our relationship with You and others above all else. May we use this season to re-examine our hearts and invest in what truly matters. Grant us the strength and wisdom to make intentional choices that honor You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
