Zechariah struggled to believe the angel’s message that he and Elizabeth would have a son in their old age, and as a result, he was unable to speak until the child was born. Respond With Faith
Zechariah’s silence wasn’t a punishment as much as it was a lesson. God was teaching him—and us—that doubt can hinder the full joy of His promises.
When we pray, it’s not enough to make requests and then slip back into uncertainty. Instead, we are called to nurture our prayers with faith, holding fast to the assurance that God hears and acts.
Praying with Expectation
Faith-filled prayer doesn’t end when we say “Amen.” It continues in how we live, think, and speak. Do our words reflect confidence in God’s faithfulness, or do they reveal hesitation? Keeping our faith strong means expecting God to move, even if the timing and method surprise us.
Just as God was faithful to give Zechariah and Elizabeth a son, He is faithful to fulfill His promises to us.
Guarding Against Doubt
Doubt will always try to creep in, whispering that maybe God has forgotten us or won’t answer. But doubt weakens prayer. Confidence strengthens it.
When we align our thoughts and words with God’s promises, we reinforce our faith and invite His timing to unfold perfectly. The waiting may be long, but God’s faithfulness never fails.
