We live in a culture that rewards the loudest voice and the most confident assertion. We are pressured to always have the answers, to be experts, and to project absolute certainty. The Strength of the Little Ones – Daily Devotional for July 15
“At that time Jesus said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.’” (Matthew 11:25)
The Wisdom of Limitation
The “little ones” Jesus speaks of are not defined by weakness; they are defined by their honesty. They are the people who have finally recognized their own limitations and are no longer afraid to admit, “I don’t know,” or “Lord, I need You.”
This is the birthplace of true life wisdom. A person who talks non-stop, who presents his personal opinion as if it were an indisputable truth, is probably not very wise.
Being a “little one” is an act of inner tidiness. We stop wasting energy trying to prove our importance and instead become open, expectant, and trusting. It is the same humility we saw in the centurion, who could say, “I am not worthy, but just say the word.”
The “little ones” are the truly free people because they have nothing to prove and no facade to maintain. They know that their value comes from being God’s creation, and that realization allows them to receive truths that the “wise” and “learned” are too busy to notice.

Prayer for Today
Lord, I confess that I often feel the need to be the “wise one” in the room. I cling to my opinions and my certainty because I fear that admitting my limitations makes me seem insignificant. Today, I want to trade that clutter for the freedom of being Your little one. Help me to be honest about what I do not know and to turn to You with the trust of a child. Clear the pride from my heart, and let me be open to the truths You long to reveal to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
