Significance of breaking bread together – Prayer for August 22. Praise the Lord, everybody! It seems like everywhere you go these days in America and other places; you can find a church, not just one church per neighborhood but one church of every denomination, Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Holiness, and the list goes on and on. Is this what God intended?
Bible Verse for Today
“And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” (Acts 2:44-47)
This was the Church at its beginning. This was the Body of Christ that God blessed and grew until it became what it is now. The joy of inclusion and fellowship with one common goal, to serve Christ, has given way to division due to doctrine, race, and class.
When did you last invite fellow believers from another Church to your home to break bread and fellowship? When was the last time a stranger walked into your Church, and you invited them to sit beside you and made them feel welcome with the love of Christ instead of shunning them and seating them alone in the back?

Suppose we want the power of God to flow in our churches as it did in the beginning. In that case, we must break up the divisions and go back to fellowshipping and remember the significance of breaking bread together, in Church and our homes, while, at the same time, sharing God’s blessings amongst each other as needed.
This is what God ordained from the beginning. God bless you all.
Significance of Breaking Bread Together Prayer for Today
Father, thank you again for showing us where we have gone wrong in your Church. Forgive us for any narrow-mindedness, classism, or racism, that might have crept in. Father, help us to remember that we are all members of one family, the family of faith. And help us to be better distributors of your love. We pray all these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
