Hearing God’s voice – Bible verse and prayer for April 18. Our ears are an essential part of understanding and obeying. When our hearing is good, people don’t have to talk as loud as if they were losing their hearing. God gave us two sets of ears to deal with: the physical ears attached to our heads and the spiritual ones to hear the Lord speak.
Bible Verse for Today
“Then Jesus said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.” (Mark 4:9)
Too many times, we hear things that God tells us, but we don’t listen to Him. We are responsible for our hearing abilities and no one else.
New Christians hear Christ speak in a quiet voice and understand. But then it seems we lose hearing because God has to speak louder and repetitively.
God doesn’t control your life; He allows you to make your decisions. But we all, from time to time, take matters into our own hands and make choices without hearing God’s opinion on the subject. This usually is caused by starting to fall away from God and His teachings. The further from God you get, the closer to Satan you get. By not listening to God, you empower Satan to rule your life now and forever.
The Christian way is not an easy one
Job 36:10 says, “He makes them listen to correction and commands them to repent of their evil.” So God opens the ear to discipline and tells you what He wants and expects of you in your Christian life.
As stated before, the Christian walk is not easy, but you can build anything with instructions.
Throughout the Bible, people didn’t listen to God and got in trouble. Adam and Eve, Moses with his staff, Lot’s wife turned into a pillar of salt, and the flood, to name a few, God told them don’t do that, and they did it anyway. So hearing God’s voice is very important.
Like our kids today, you tell them that drugs are wrong and they must see a friend die before believing you. They, at first, didn’t listen, but after they tried, it worked.
Devotional for every day here: Daily Devotional
As Christians, how many bits of advice have we missed due to a hearing problem? Did it take long to realize what happened? Too busy to pray or for devotions? If you haven’t heard from God lately, guess who stopped talking.
After a while, if your hearing isn’t checked, you could lose all of your hearing.
2 Timothy 4:4 reads, “And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” So you start to believe false prophets and Satan until they lead you away from God.
God doesn’t want anyone lost, but this hearing problem has become an epidemic. It will cause the lives of millions to be lost forever. Do you hear what I hear? If not, listen up – not much time is left to get your hearing checked and fixed. And the check-up and repairs are free! What a deal, too good to be true!
Open the door right now! Jesus is knocking and waiting for you to open up. Can you hear the knocking?
- Jesus said in Revelations 3:20, “I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
- And in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Is your hearing coming back yet? Hear the knocking on your heart’s door? Open the door now. Don’t let Satan have your soul; take control of your life, and open the door.
Hearing God’s Voice Prayer for Today
Oh, Lord, there are too many people with hearing problems today. Their ears need that touch so they can listen to the knock at the door. We praise your holy name and thank you for the many answers to prayers for the past, the present, and the future. Jesus, please help us realize our hearing problem and guide us to the right place for repairs.
Lord, walk with us and guide us on the path you would have us travel. In the precious name of Jesus, we ask these things. Amen.
