Show unconditional love – Prayer for Lent #day 30. There are many things that people will do during the time of Lent and then will never continue to do it after the period of Lent. People who used to give will stop giving. Some people that have been showing love to others will suddenly stop when Lent is over. Will you stop loving after Lent?
Bible Verse for Today
“And they come to you as people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear what you say but they will not do it; for with lustful talk in their mouths they act; their heart is set on their gain.” (Ezekiel 33:31)
This is a question that everyone needs to answer. Were you showing love before the period of Lent? Will you continue to show after Lent? This period of Lent is not the only time that one should show love. What this attitude makes you become is a hypocrite.
God doesn’t like people who are hypocrites, those who are doing things so that people will see that they are working. Matthew 6:1 says, “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.”
There is no point showing love during Lent and then stop showing it after Lent. There will be no reward for this kind of act. It is not what God has requested from us – we need to follow the steps of Jesus to do things.
One thing that we should learn and like about Jesus is that He loved the people even at the point of death. That is the kind of unconditional love that God is asking us to show to the people around us.
Stephen, when was being stoned by the persecutors, did not curse them or speak something bad to these people. He prayed for them. That is an example of unconditional love. That is the kind of love that we should show not the one that comes occasionally or come during the time of Lent alone.
This time, we should tell God that He should help us to be consistent in showing love. Don’t be like the hypocrites that do good things so that others can see it.
Show Unconditional Love Prayer for Today
Lord, if I have not been showing love the way I am supposed to show it if I have been behaving like the hypocrites in the way that I show love. I pray that you forgive me. I pray, Lord, that you help me to show love to people at all times, irrespective of the situation and the feeling I am having. Help me to be like God in spirit. Amen.
