As the morning sun rises, it reminds us of the quiet but steady way that light changes everything it touches. In today’s Daily Devotional for June 9, Being Light in the World, we reflect on the simple yet powerful calling we have to share the hope we have found.
Being Light in the World – Daily Devotional for June 9
“You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:14)
A Light That Cannot Be Hidden
Jesus did not tell His followers to try to become light. He told them they already are light. This is not a status we earn by being perfect or by knowing all the answers. It is an identity we receive when we choose to follow Him.
Light does not struggle to shine. It simply exists, and in doing so, it pushes back the darkness.
When we live with kindness, honesty, and grace in our daily lives, we act as a beacon. We might think our small acts of love do not matter much, but even a tiny flame is enough to help someone find their way when things feel dark. We are not called to be spotlights that draw attention to ourselves, but rather lamps that help others see the path to God.

Prayer for Today
Lord, thank You for choosing me to be a light in this world. Forgive me when I try to hide my faith or when I let my own worries dim my spirit. Help me to show Your love in the small things I do today. May my actions point others toward Your hope, so that they may know Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
To You
What is one simple way you can show kindness to someone you meet today, acting as a light instead of staying in the shadows of your own busy schedule?
