Welcome to your daily devotional for February 13, Choose Kindness. Today, we look at the intentional decision to wear kindness like a coat, even when the weather is stormy.
Daily Devotional for February 13
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” — Colossians 3:12 (NIV)
The Daily Choice
Every morning, we choose what to wear based on the day ahead.
Paul tells us to treat kindness the same way. It isn’t just a feeling that strikes us; it’s a garment we have to put on deliberately. “Clothing ourselves” means kindness is an intentional act. We have to strap it on before we face the traffic, the emails, and the noise.
Choose Kindness
Real kindness isn’t fluffy; it’s gritty. It’s choosing to offer a gentle answer when you want to snap back. It’s smiling when you’re exhausted. When we choose kindness in a culture addicted to outrage, we aren’t just being nice; we are being counter-cultural.
We are showing the world that our circumstances don’t dictate our attitudes, but that it is the One we follow who does.
By wearing kindness today, you aren’t just being “nice”; you are making the invisible God visible to a world that desperately needs to see Him. You are showing that you belong to a different Kingdom, one where grace rules over grumpiness.

Prayer for Today
Father, thank You for choosing me and loving me exactly as I am. I confess that kindness is often the first thing I drop when I feel stressed or hurried. Please help me slow down today. Give me the strength to actively put on kindness this morning, just like I put on my coat. Let my words be gentle, and my patience be long, so that others might feel Your love through me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
To You
Catch yourself before you react to a frustration today. Pause, take a breath, and consciously choose one kind word or action instead of your default reaction.
