CHRISTIAN MORNING PRAYER – Some tips to start your day right

Christian Morning Prayer is essential to every Jesus’ disciple. A new day is starting and you really don’t know what is awaiting you. Maybe it will be wonderful day, but you can face some difficulties as well. So Morning Prayer is a wonderful and powerful start of the new your day. We address our Lord, thanking Him for the giving one more day in our life, asking for His love, blessing, help and protection. In morning prayers we get closer to God, we express our love and trust in Him.

What is the best time for Christian Morning Prayer?

Psalms say: “In the morning, O LORD, hear my voice. In the morning I lay my needs in front of you, and I wait.” (Psalm 5:3), “I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word.” (Psalm 119:147).  Looking at these scriptures, we can see that early morning, immediately you wake up, is the best time to start your Morning Prayer. The day starts when you wake up and from that time you need God’s help and protection, His care and blessing in everything you do.

Morning Prayer duration

Sometimes, we rush in the morning because we wake up late and we want to get to work or anywhere early, so we think we have missed the proper time to pray. Prayer is a close communication between you and God, you can be in a rush and still pray while doing the chores or dressing up. It is just like you making a phone call while you are in a rush. God understands and hears you, all you need is just to talk to Him. No matter how short is your prayer is, God hears.  When you make your request known to God from your heart, with deep faith, He will surely answer because He looks the heart (2 Samuel 16:7).

What you need for Morning Prayer?

The most important things needed for the Christian Morning Prayer are your faith and sincerely open heart. Address our Lord with some sincerely thankful words and ask for care and help in your daily works, if you have not much time this particular morning. Also it is advisable to have some positive declarations that we can say in the Morning Prayer when we are in a rush. Positive words cause positive things to happen. The declarations should be Bible based, it should be taken from the word of God. These words can be written down and mastered but, it must be declared with meaning that is from the heart and not just like an ordinary poem.

For the days you doesn’t know how or can’t find right personal words for pray, a good help for your Morning Prayer could be to find some wonderful written prayers on internet. Another option could be ancient prayer form  based on Bible, so called  Liturgy of Hours (The Breviary). This is very old wonderful prayer for each day, which consists of psalms, hundred years’ old hymns, selected Bible readings and intercessory prayer.

As stated in Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”  Psalm 100:2 also says: “Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.” Liturgy of Hours includes all the most important elements of prayer. Try someday and pray Liturgy of Hours regularly for the glory of God.

If you don’t really know how you should start with the Christian Morning Prayer or in what order it should go, it’s not a problem and we hope this will help. Jesus gave us a pattern in which we should pray (Matthew 6:9-13).

Thanksgiving should come first. It’s morning, you should be grateful to God for the grace to see a new day. Praise God in songs, Psalm 59:16 “But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.” The next thing is to ask for forgiveness according to Matthew 6:12:  “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” Also don’t forget to ask whatever you want for the day, ask for protection and provision (Matthew 7:7).

This another beautiful day, a new day from you. Thank you, My Lord, for the grace to see the new day. I give you praise for creating me, preservation, and blessings. I thank you because you never fail to watch over me in the night and you helped to over the terror of the night and pestilence that stalks in darkness. Help me to keep my heart pure, help me not to fall into temptation, open my eyes to see and not to fall into sin. My God, please put me into your secret place and let me dwell under your shadow, therefore, no evil shall before me. Let blessings fall on me in good places and cause men to favor and bless me. You are my Shield, preserve my life and preserve my going out and coming in. Amen.
