Following God’s order – Prayer for Lent #day 7. We are doing things in the wrong way. We are not being patient to follow God’s order and do what He requires of us. There are things that God wants us to do, we can only ask Him what is the right way of doing what he wants us to do.
Bible Verse for Today
“Is this not the fast which I choose, to loosen the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free and break every yoke?” (Isaiah 58:6)
First, I will start with this – we claim to be fasting and we have not forgiven the people that have done badly against us. Is this the kind of fasting that God wants from us? We claim to be fasting but we are thinking bad about another person all the time. Are we sure this kind of attitude will make God accept our fasting?
God is saying that He did not request these kinds of fasting, a type where you have the other people in mind and refuse to forgive. The kind of fasting that God wants from us that type that we will render with a free mind. The type that we will do in love. We have things and we see people who do not have and we refuse to do anything to help. Remember, God did not ask for this kind of fasting.
It is not too late to drop the habit and call God to have mercy on you. There are people out there who need love, you might not have enough but showing a little gesture that you care will go a long way in making them happy. This is part of what Lent is about. Let people know about Jesus. But you can’t do this if you are keeping malice, you can’t achieve this if you don’t have the spirit of love in you.
If you don’t know what to do or what God wants you to do this period, there are always the scriptures there. It is filled with the word of God and God gave it to man through inspiration. They are very useful.
Do what is right, do what God requires of you. Trying to do things our way will end us in failure. At that point, we will remember that God is the right way. But before we fall into failure, why can’t we just put God first and live according to His will alone.
Following God’s Order Prayer for Today
Dear Lord, I know I may have been doing some things the wrong way. I have been doing what you did not require of me. I have realized this and I want to live according to your order now. Lord, I want to take your direction and obey you in all I do. I pray that you give me the strength to do this. Amen.
