God lives in us. God is everywhere and human being is inseparably body and soul. As the great philosopher St Thomas Aquinas wrote: “My soul is not me.” God is present in the soul, we are right to think he is present in the body. We cannot be wrong to think God is in our depths.
Bible Verses state about God living in us
“And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves” (Mathew 21:12-13)
“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” (1Corinthians 3:16-17)
“And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:16-18)
What does it mean God lives in us?
The Temple of God, God lives in us? What does it mean? This is another of the multi meaning phrases in the Bible. The temple was a place for the faithful to gather and learn the laws that was sent by God to Moses.
God said anything that harms the Temple of God is wrong. So what harms our bodies, The Temple of God? First, anything done in excess, eating, drinking, work. How about drugs, smoking, alcohol, things that can cause infection like tattoos and body piercings. That’s between you and God. We need to remember the history of all these things and what they stood for.
The temple in the physical sense is a holy place. But as you can see in Mathew, the people turned into a market place selling doves. So Jesus got upset and turned over the tables because they harmed the Temple of God.
I remember when I was little and going to church, the rules set for me. What was so special about the building? “God is here” you would say.
The Bible says “where two or more are gathered together in my there I will be also.”
So what do you think about the Temple of God? Is your body a place where God could stay forever? Or is your body being destroyed by yourself?
Remember your body is only on loan to you. It really belongs to God. God lives in us. Did you ask Gods permission to mark it, cut, inhale toxins, or screw up your mind? I doubt if you even thought about it.
God loves all of us but is hurt when we disobey him and harm ourselves. We all do things that we have regretted later but God is willing and able to forgive us.
