We are being led by the Spirit of God – Prayer for October 23. Praise the Lord, everybody!
Sometimes, we Christians find ourselves in a “potter’s shed,” where we are being remade and corrected, and it never seems to end. Then, we run out of patience and feel we must take matters into our own hands.
Bible Verse for Today
“This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.” (Jeremiah 18:1-4)
God is like the potter in the book of Jeremiah, who molds and shapes us into beautiful vessels.
As Christians, we must never forget who the Potter is and that we forever reside in the Potter’s hands, to do with what He will. When God allows us to experience trial after trial, He creates and shapes us. God uses these trials to mold us into what He wants us to be.
The problem is that we don’t always feel comfortable in God’s hands, so we get tired and decide to take matters into our own hands.
Devotional for every day here: Daily Devotional
The Church is full of people who wrote themselves out of the Potter’s House before God officially released them.
They sit in the Church and think they are complete in Christ. They want to teach and preach. Instead, their ministry has no real power; they are broken vessels who have left the Potter’s House too soon.
The flesh does not want to submit to the constant reforming of the Potters’ wheel. Therefore, we must deny our flesh and let ourselves be led by the Spirit of God.
We cannot determine when we are complete; only God can. Therefore, God is looking for those who can endure to the end and are willing to humble themselves under His mighty hand so that He may exalt them in due time. God Bless you all.
Being Led by the Spirit of God Prayer for Today
Father God, we thank you for the Potter’s house and wheel. We thank you that you care enough about us to want to make us into the best vessels we can be. Lord, help us to stay on the wheel and not get off it before you are finished with us. We promise to be led by the spirit of God. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
