Armor of God daily Devotional for December 30

As we near the year’s close, let’s focus on the vital theme of the Armor of God, as described in Ephesians 6. With this armor of God, we equip ourselves for our daily spiritual battles to stand firm in faith and truth in the coming year.

Daily Devotional for December 30

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians 6:11)

Girded in God’s Strength and Protection

The Apostle Paul’s imagery of the Armor of God provides powerful insight into our spiritual resources.

Truth as the Belt

Truth grounds us in spiritual battles as a belt secures a soldier’s armor. It is foundational, guiding us to live authentically and with integrity in God’s reality.

Righteousness as the Breastplate

Righteousness, given through Christ, protects our hearts. It reminds us of our identity in Him and guards against the accusations and guilts that can assail us.

The Gospel of Peace as Shoes

Preparedness to share the gospel brings peace, both to our steps and in our interactions. This readiness keeps us focused on our mission and purpose.

Faith as the Shield

Faith acts as a shield, deflecting the fiery arrows of doubt, despair, or temptation. It’s a proactive defense built up and strengthened through our relationship with God.

Salvation as the Helmet

The assurance of salvation is our protective helmet. It secures our identity as saved and beloved children of God, safeguarding our minds from attacks of fear and hopelessness.

The Word of God as the Sword

Scripture, the Sword of the Spirit, is our offensive weapon. It provides wisdom, guidance, and authority, empowering us to counter lies and deception.
