Purpose of God’s calling – Prayer for July 6. We have been called to work. We have been ordered by Jesus to go into the world and preach the gospel. This is a mandate we must keep pursuing to the end and never back out of. There is a reward for fulfilling the mandate.
Bible Verse for Today
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23)
So many people were called by God; they obeyed and, in no time, started doing the work God had placed in their hands. Along the way, they fell.
They fell because they never took heed; they thought the journey would be smooth.
This Christian journey is not an easy one; to accomplish the task that God has placed in our hands, we need to fight and persevere to the end. The truth is that there won’t be a victory if there are no wars – we won’t be called victors if no battle is won.
We have been assured that in anything we face, we will always be victors. Romans 8:37 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
There will be temptations that come our way to stop us from pursuing the mandate. Paul knew there would be some things that will want to make him fall but he always do something to keep himself going and not fall. 1 Corinthians 9:27 “I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.”
We also need to learn to control ourselves and keep going till the end. There is a reward for anyone who runs the race and finishes well.
Never forget the purpose of God’s calling. James 1:12 “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
Prayer for Today
By your power, Lord, I shall pursue the mandate, and I shall not swerve to the right or to the left. I will achieve the purpose to which you have called me, and your glory will shine on me. I will never forget the purpose of God’s calling. Amen.
