Today, in our Daily Devotional for April 23, The Truth is a Person, we are looking at the core of what it means to be a believer. It is the difference between admiring a set of instructions and actually knowing the Author.
The Truth is a Person – Daily Devotional for April 23
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'” (John 14:6)
More Than a Philosophy
It is a common mistake to view Christianity as a collection of good ideas or a moral “how-to” manual. While the teachings of Jesus are perfect, Christianity is not just a philosophy: Christianity is Christ. If you take Jesus out of the center, the entire structure collapses.
A philosophy can give you advice, but it cannot give you life. A set of ideas can tell you what is right, but it cannot give you the power to do it. Jesus is more than His ideas. He is a living Person who wants to be in a relationship with you. The mark of a true Christian isn’t just knowing what Jesus said: it is knowing Jesus Himself.
When Truth Breathes
We often talk about “the truth” as an abstract concept or a set of facts. But Jesus made a staggering claim: He said, “I am the truth.”
This means that truth has a face, a voice, and a heart. Truth isn’t just something you study in a book: it is someone you walk with in the garden of your life. All that He said was true because of who He is.
Without the Person of Jesus, the words of the Gospel would be powerless information. With Him, those words become the power that sets men and women free.

Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You that my faith is built on a relationship and not just a ritual. Help me to move beyond just knowing “about” You to truly knowing You. I want to experience the power of Your presence in my life today. Thank You for being the Truth that sets me free. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
To You
As you go through your day, try to shift your focus from “What should I do?” to “Lord, what are we doing?” Remind yourself that Jesus is a living Person standing right beside you. Talk to Him as a friend throughout the day, and notice how that personal connection changes your perspective on your tasks.
