It is a pleasure to walk with you on April 16. Today, in Daily Devotional, The View From Above, we conclude the third chapter of John. If yesterday was about the “Why” of God’s love (John 3:16), today is about the “Authority” of that love.
The View From Above – Daily Devotional for April 16
“The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth.” (John 3:31)
The Perspective Gap
Most of our stress comes from an earthly perspective. When we are “from the earth,” we see things from the ground level. We see the obstacles, the bills, the flat tires, and the difficult people. This view is limited and often filled with anxiety.
Jesus, however, comes “from above.” He isn’t just a better version of a human teacher; He has a different vantage point entirely.
Think of it like the difference between an ant crawling through the grass and a person looking down from a balcony. The ant sees a forest of blades; the person sees the path. When we trust Jesus, we aren’t just getting advice: we are getting a heavenly perspective on our earthly problems.
No Measuring Cups
One of the most beautiful lines in this passage is found in verse 34: “For he gives the Spirit without measure.”
In our world, everything is measured. We have limited budgets, limited time, and limited patience.
We often treat God’s grace as if it comes from a dropper bottle: one tiny bit at a time. But God does not ration His Spirit. He doesn’t have a quota for how much peace or strength He can give you today. If you feel “empty,” it isn’t because God is running low: it is an invitation to come back to the source.

Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I admit that I often get stuck in a “ground-level” perspective. I let my earthly worries dictate my mood and my choices. Today, I look to the One who is above all. Fill me with Your Spirit without measure. Help me to live today from a place of heavenly peace rather than earthly panic. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
To You
When a worry starts to feel “above you” today, remind yourself that Jesus is “above all.” Take thirty seconds to stop what you are doing, breathe deeply, and consciously “hand over” that specific earthly concern to the One who has the heavenly view.
