I will give you rest. In Jesus’ words, the little ones are those who understand that it is not the man who is the all-powerful ruler of the world but God. Like it or not, the reality is that we are dependent on God.
Daily Devotional for July 9
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (full text at Matthew 11:25-30)
The sin of pride creates the illusion that man can be God for himself. The result is that the illusion does not correspond to reality. As a result, man is miserable and depressed and does not understand the real cause of his misery. The sin of pride is the cause of loneliness, misery, and anxiety in the heart. It is, for this reason, that man is unable to enjoy God’s graces and enjoy life.
I Will Give You Rest
But Jesus offers us a different way. He invites us to embrace the truth. “The truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)
That means just put your pride under your feet and come to the Lord just as you are. The fruit of such humility will appear very soon. You will release your burdens and find rest for your soul. But most importantly, you will finally find peace within yourself. When we humbly surrender to Him, we find deep peace and hope.
Devotional for every day here: Daily Devotional
As we turn to the Lord, we acknowledge our need for Him and invite Him to be the center of our lives. In this attitude, we find freedom from the heavy burden of pride and self-sufficiency. We experience the joy of living according to God’s will and pursuing our goals.
When we accept Jesus’ invitation, we are no longer slaves to our pride and anxiety. On the contrary, we become His beloved children, secure in His love and care. Our hearts are filled with hope, and our lives are filled with His light.
Turn to the Lord, and your life will shine with hope and light.
Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, You alone are God. We confess our pride and the burdens we have carried on our own. We surrender them to You, knowing You are the source of true rest and peace. Help us embrace humility and childlike faith so that we may find freedom in Your loving embrace. Guide us on the path of surrender and grant the rest our souls desperately seek. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
