Firmly stand for God – Prayer for July 23. Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not all His benefits! Praise the Lord, everybody. Have you ever found yourself shaking your head in agreement with something even though you disagree deep down inside?
Bible Verse for Today
“Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10)
There are too many people, pleasers, in the body of Christ, and God is beginning to deal with the Church concerning this.
Have you ever found yourself sitting around with non-believers nodding your head in agreement with them about things that you knew you disagreed with but not standing up for what you believed, just to fit in with the group? Peer pressure, loneliness, and low self-esteem are terrible things and have no place in the body of Christ.
As the world gets darker and darker and closer to being reprobate, Christians will find themselves involved in conversations where their beliefs, religion, and ideals will be a tiny and unpopular minority. They will be ridiculed and browbeaten by colleagues and friends because of those same Christian ideals.
At these times, they must stand firm, unafraid, even when it will make us unpopular, even hated by friends and family who are either non-believers or weak, carnal Christians afraid to swim against the tide.
Devotional for every day here: Daily Devotional
Over the years, God has revealed the importance of standing flat-footed in the face of unpopularity and saying what you mean and meaning what you say. This way, we can please and serve God and, at the same time, maybe influence a few men to follow them as they follow Christ. God bless.
Firmly Stand for God Prayer for Today
Father God, please give us the strength needed today to stand up for what we believe, no matter the opposition and no matter the cost. Let our focus always be on pleasing you and not man. Put Holy Ghost boldness on our tongues and lips. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
