God’s purpose for my life – Prayer for September 14. Praise the Lord everybody! Have you ever asked yourself, “what is my purpose in Christ?” How to know God’s purpose for my life? Focusing on that purpose that assignment keeps from looking to the left or to the right, both are filled with the distractions of this world. It is that purpose that keeps us going through life.
Bible Verse for Today
When word came to Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab and the rest of our enemies that I had rebuilt the wall and not a gap was left in it—though up to that time I had not set the doors in the gates— Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono.”
But they were scheming to harm me; so I sent messengers to them with this reply: “I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?” Four times they sent me the same message, and each time I gave them the same answer. (Nehemiah 6:1-4)
Nehemiah was a purpose-driven Christian. Nehemiah knew he was charged with the rebuilding of the walls of Judah and he would not be deterred. A lot of us know what God has charged us with, what our callings are but we somehow never got started or we came down off the wall to deal with some trumped-up distraction orchestrated by the enemy or we got tired of “well doing” and abandoned our task.
We must remember our purpose, what we are doing and why we are doing it. We fall off the wall because we are not fully committed for various reasons. Nehemiah was fully committed to seeing the job through to the end. He could have come down for a break, he was almost finished, but he finished the work, and he and his people were blessed.
His enemies lost heart because they saw he was committed to God’s work and that God was committed to helping him. The time has come for staying on the wall, staying on task, the task that God has charged YOU with. If you’re up there stay up there but if you have fallen off or come down and wandered away on your own for whatever reason remember your purpose, what God has called you to do.
Say to yourself “I want to be a purpose-driven Christian like Nehemiah”. When you are tempted, say “Why should I come down? I’m doing good work and why should that stop?”
So, let’s all remember God’s purpose for my life and get back up and stay on the wall till our work is done. Amen! God bless you all.
God’s Purpose for my Life Prayer for Today
Father God, we thank you for giving us our purpose in life. Help us Lord to “stay on the wall” and not be distracted or tempted off until the work is done. If we fall, Lord, give us the strength to get right back on. I want to know God’s purpose for my life and to work on it. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
