Power of Holy Spirit in you – Prayer for September 28. Praise the Lord! Lately, I see preachers and pastors preaching about holy living and the renunciation of sin, whether that sin is fornication, lying, or stealing. They proclaim the message of the Holy Spirit straight from the throne and heart of God. Sadly, their churches will not thrive because people leave and go where they can hear a more “comfortable” message, like the children of Israel in Deuteronomy chapter five.
Bible Verse for Today
And you said, “The Lord our God has shown us his glory and his majesty, and we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that a person can live even if God speaks with them. But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us, and we will die if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer. For what mortal has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived?” (Deuteronomy 5:24-26)
They could not stand before God and His Holy glory because in their hearts they knew that they were carrying with them the idols and sin they picked up in captivity and they were not willing to forsake them.
These people knew that no flesh could stand before God and live and they wanted to continue to feed their flesh and not die to it. They were hoping that the sheer holiness of His glory would get lost in translation from God to Moses. “You speak to God and then you speak to us for Him so that we don’t have to die!” meaning die to their sin.
Today we can find the same thing going on in the Church. God is raising up a remnant of Holy men of God, Holy Spirit filled and uncompromising to preach to his people.
But there are many who, though they consider themselves part of the body of Christ, choose to continue in sin and do not want to change anything in their lives. Or they say: “Pastor, can’t you tone down the fire and brimstone a little, because God is a God of love?” And others just get up and walk away saying, “I don’t need to listen to all this, God knows my heart.”
Learn to feel the power of Holy Spirit in you
Paul said, “I die daily”. The things that Paul went through he could have done in his flesh. He had to die to himself. We must not run from the Holiness and majesty of God and the convicting power of his spirit and word but embrace it, asking God to deliver us from our secret sin.
Asking to help us mortify our flesh and appreciate the Godly sorrow we feel when we fall short of the mark. Learn to feel the power of the Holy Spirit in you.
We must always remember that God’s Holy Spirit fire is a cleansing fire and that He chastens those that He loves. Feel the power of the Holy Spirit in you. God bless you all.
Power of Holy Spirit in you Prayer for Today
Father God, we thank you that we can hear directly from you, and the only thing that must die is our flesh. Lord help us to remember that there is nothing good in our flesh and let us not despise your chastisement. Let us feel the power of the Holy Spirit in us. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
