Asking God for help – Prayer for September 16. Praise the Lord everybody! Even though the word tells us that we are “more than conquerors” in all things, sometimes circumstances make you wonder if you really are.
Bible Verse for Today
The Lord said to Joshua, “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face? Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions. That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies.” (Joshua 7:10-12)
Have you ever found yourself going through something and you’re not getting the victory you expected over the situation, so you start fasting, praying, and then crying out to God? After a while, you begin to think your prayers are not getting through and then God says to you what He basically said to Joshua “get up and handle your business, there’s sin in the camp!”
Let me say this, just because you may be going through a hard trial does not always mean there’s sin in your life, but it is always a good idea to search for yourself.
All the praying and fasting in the world couldn’t help, Joshua had to get up and deal with the sin. Sins like drug abuse, adultery, stealing, etc. are easy to identify but as was the case with Achan some are hidden away and not obvious to others and often justified in the eyes of the sinner.
Never stop asking God for help
You may have found yourself to have been disobedient on several occasions when you heard God speak and did not carry out what you were assigned to do. This is rebellion and God’s word says “rebellion” is the sin of “witchcraft” and “stubbornness” is “iniquity and idolatry”.
We must change, if we claim to know His voice then we must be obedient when He speaks. There is no justification for disobedience. Thanks be to God that we don’t have to do what Joshua had to do to Achan and his family. We just have purposed in our hearts to be obedient and ask God to help us with this. Never stop asking God for help. God bless you all.
Asking God for Help Prayer for Today
Father God, help us to always make sure there is no sin in our camps before we come to you in prayer and petition. Lord help us to realize that when you speak to us and we do not respond to your voice that is rebellion, and rebellion is a sin. Father God help us to rid ourselves of all sin in our lives so that we can come before you clean and holy unto you, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
