Become like Jesus – Prayer for Lent #day 11. Every time we pray to be like Jesus, we want to do the things that He did and even do greater things. There are some things that Jesus did while He was on earth. Are we ready to do all of these things and still stand without running away?
Bible Verse for Today
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (Ephesians 5:1-2)
There are reasons why we observe Lent, it is a preparation for Easter. It helps us deny the flesh, it helps us to stay humble and reject ego. Lent helps us to show love, it helps purify our hearts, and it helps to build us spiritually. All of these things are the things we can see in the life of Jesus Christ. Jesus remained humble to the point of death. From the beginning, he came down to earth to glory. He showed us love.
We don’t deserve this love; we have not done anything o deserve it but he loved us still. Romans 5:8 “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” If we want to be like Jesus, in this period of lent, we should have all the attributes of Jesus – the things that made him different from every other person.
Don’t say it is not possible to achieve this. Jesus Himself confirmed that we can achieve it in John 14:12 “V Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do, and greater works than these will he do because I am going to the Father.”
One of the most important things we should do is that we should abstain from sin and every appearance of sin. Sin will never let us be like Jesus. When Jesus was tempted, He overcame – if we are not like Him, it would be too hard for us to overcome temptation which comes from Satan.
Another thing is that we must show an act of love. Love is important – God is love – if we claim to the children of God, then love should be part of our lives. It should not be too hard for us to show love and do the right thing and be able to sacrifice some things for the sake of love in Christ.
Let us tell God to show us the right step we can take to become like Jesus

Heavenly Father, I want to thank you for what you have done for me. You came down from glory to die for my sins. And you show us love even when we don’t deserve it. Lord, I pray that you create in me a clean heart to be able to do your work right and to be like you. Show me your ways, Lord. Amen.
