Prayer for Lent #day 12. Where do we call a wilderness? A wilderness can be explained to be an abandoned area, a place where there is nothing productive, where no one can live. Jesus was led to this place. What did He do when He was in the wilderness?
Bible Verse for Today
“So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.” (Exodus 15:22)
From the introduction, what did Jesus do in the wilderness or what happened to Him? We can remember that this was the time Satan came. Jesus was hungry after fasting, in the wilderness there was no food and nothing to drink.
The wilderness is always empty. Nothing good can come out of the wilderness but in the case of Jesus something good came out of it and that is victory. Everyone here on earth will go through the wilderness – it is part of life, part of the journey that we must go through. We should know that there is nothing good in the wilderness but we must be like Jesus and bring out something good from there.
The Israelites went into the wilderness with Moses. They were there for three days and there was no water and food to eat. This is the same thing that happened to Jesus after He fasted.
If you are in the wilderness, Satan will always want to take advantage of this to make you fall. The wilderness is a place that has no light, it is filled with darkness. We might not be praying for light; we can tell God to make us the light ourselves so we will see the hidden secrets in the wilderness.
There are things you can do when you feel you are going through the wilderness. You can call on God – God has the power to bring you out of the wilderness of life. You also have the word of God to use to destroy any form of evil. Jesus used the word of God and he got the victory. You can get the victory too.
In this period of Lent, the enemy might want to close your eyes to the light and take you through the wilderness – you have the power of God in you to resist him. Tell God to strengthen you as you walk through the wilderness and never fall.
Going Through the Wilderness Prayer for Today
Lord, I know this life is full of wilderness. At a point in life, we will go through one. Lord, I pray that when I will be going through any situation that is in the form of wilderness that you never leave me alone. Go with me and let your light shine on my path so I can see the way and never be lost in the wilderness. Amen.
