Prayer for February 17. The purest of all gifts are the gifts from above. God gives without adding sorrow, and He is ever ready to endow us with gifts.
Bible Verse for Today
“Every good and perfect endowment is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17)
Gifts from Above
The most authentic blessings we receive are those that descend from above. God provides for us without adding sorrow, and He is always ready to endow us with his bounty. While we often share offerings to express our love for one another, God’s provision is designed to sustain us for a lifetime and beyond.
He may bless you with specific abilities, such as the power to heal, the talent to sing, or the insight of prophecy. These are pure treasures from God. They cannot be earned or purchased.
As we see in Acts 8:20, Peter’s rebuke of the idea of buying divine favor makes it clear that heaven’s riches are not for sale. Instead, God rewards us with these tools so we can fulfill our calling on earth and bring Him glory through our lives.
Devotional for every day: Daily Devotional
When we recognize that every perfect thing comes from Him, we can let go of the stress of trying to manufacture our own success. We no longer need to manipulate outcomes or strain for control. Instead, we can live responsibly and faithfully, knowing that our Father is the source of everything we truly need.
Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your grace, love, and kindness. You have placed me on a path of abundance, and I am blessed by Your constant favor. I am grateful that You have enriched me with everything necessary for life and godliness.
Thank You for the wisdom, the knowledge of Your word, and the understanding You provide. You grant exactly what is needed to make progress and to choose the right direction. You know me better than I know myself, and You understand exactly what is required to transform my circumstances.
I bring before You the areas where I have struggled with a desire for control. Please help me to trust You more fully and develop genuine self-discipline. I choose to release my anxieties to You, trusting You with the people and situations in my life. Thank You for the freedom that comes from knowing You hold all things together. Amen.
