Daily Devotional for September 15
“The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of Your hands.” – Psalm 138:8 (ESV)
A Foundation of Certainty
When we talk about trusting in God’s promises, we’re not talking about a hopeful guess or a vague possibility. We’re talking about unshakeable certainties.
The Scriptures are filled with declarations from God about who we are and what He has done for us. These aren’t “maybes” or “probablys”—they are truths we can build our entire lives upon.
Think of what we can be sure of:
- Our Identity. We are children of God, deeply loved and chosen by Him. We are not defined by our failures but by His grace.
- Our Peace. We have righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. These are not temporary feelings, but a constant reality available to us through our relationship with God.
- Our Forgiveness. We are forgiven for all our sins. Our past is cleansed, and our names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
- Our Future. We have a guaranteed inheritance purchased by the blood of Jesus. He has already prepared a place for us in heaven.
These promises are truths that stand firm regardless of our feelings or circumstances. They are the anchor for our souls in a stormy world.
Trusting What Is True
The enemy’s most common tactic is to make us doubt these certainties. He’ll whisper lies about our worth, our forgiveness, or our future.
But we don’t have to listen to him. Instead, we can choose to stand on the solid ground of God’s Word. When you feel discouraged, remind yourself of who you are in Christ. When you feel unloved, meditate on the truth of His unconditional love.
Living a life built on these certainties changes everything. It gives us the courage to face trials, the strength to forgive, and the freedom to serve others without fear. God is faithful, and His promises are sure.

Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank you for the certainty of your promises. Forgive me for the times I have allowed doubt to shake my faith. Help me to stand firm on the truths of your Word—that I am loved, forgiven, and called by you. Fill my heart with the peace and joy that come from knowing my identity in you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
To You
My brother, if you want to grow in your faith truly, don’t pass this topic by. Stop and really think about which of God’s promises you could best meditate on today. Maybe even write it down.
