Love God with all your heart – Prayer for October 26. Praise the Lord everybody! When you read the Psalms in the Bible there are some that just touch your heart and bring you back into remembrance of how far you have drifted away from your first love.
Bible Verse for Today
“O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.” (Psalms 63:1)
David has been called a man after God’s own heart, and you get a little glimpse of that in the above scripture. David sounds like an addict going “cold turkey.” He describes a desire and a thirst after God that is overpowering. If you ask most other Christian believers you will find we all have felt the same way, especially when we first gave our lives to Christ.
We were like a person wandering in a hot dry desert with no light and no water and then we finally come out of the dark into an oasis of cool water. We could not get enough. Just like we need air to breath, we needed God and His word to live, not just once a week, but every day.
David also stated in Psalm 38:3-4: “Because of your wrath there is no health in my body; there is no soundness in my bones because of my sin.My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear.”
When was the last time you felt what David is expressing here because of a sin you committed? When was the last time you became physically ill because of sin in your life? We brush off God and sin with a quick prayer, and sometimes we don’t even pray we say, “God knows my heart” and keep on going. Why can’t we keep that fire going in our own lives?
There is always no reason for us not to be like David, men and woman after Gods own heart. The world has a way of eroding away our zeal for Godliness, and a time comes when He is no longer the apple of our eyes and the fire in our hearts burn out.
Thanks be to God that this never happens to Him concerning us. We will always be the apple of Gods eye. His love for us never become cold. It’s time for us to relight the fires, and regain our hatred of our sins, because God expects nothing less from us then our best. God bless you all.
Love God with All Your Heart Prayer for Today
Father God, forgive us for our slackness in our obedience and desire to serve you. Lord help us rekindle our zeal for you, our hatred of our sin. And we want to return you as the apple of our eyes. We will always love God with all our heart! In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
