Love God with all your heart – Prayer for October 26. Praise the Lord, everybody! When you read the Psalms in the Bible, some touch your heart and bring you back into remembrance of how far you have drifted away from your first love.
Bible Verse for Today
You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water. (Psalms 63:1)
David was a man called by God. He describes the desire and thirst for God, which is irresistible. And that feeling is like an addiction. If you ask other Christian believers, you will find we all felt the same way, especially when we first gave our lives to Christ.
We were like a person wandering in a hot desert with no light and no water, and then we finally came out of the dark into an oasis of cool water. We could not get enough. Just like we need air to breathe, we need God and His word to live, not just once a week, but every day.
David also stated in Psalm 38:3-4: “Because of your wrath there is no health in my body; there is no soundness in my bones because of my sin. My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear.”
When was the last time you felt what David was expressing about sin? When did you feel real pain because of sin? Instead, we push God and sin away with a quick prayer, and sometimes we don’t even pray. We say: “God knows my heart,” and we move on as if nothing had happened. Why can’t we keep this fire in our lives?
There is always no reason for us not to be like David, men, and women after God’s heart. But, unfortunately, the world has a way of eroding our zeal for Godliness, and a time comes when He is no longer the apple of our eyes, and the fire in our hearts burns out.
Thanks be to God that this never happens to Him concerning us. We will always be the apple of God’s eye. His love for us never becomes cold. It’s time for us to relight the fires and regain our hatred of our sins because God expects nothing less from us than our best. God bless you all.
Love God with All Your Heart Prayer for Today
Father God, forgive us for our slackness in our obedience and desire to serve you. Lord, please help us rekindle our zeal for you, our hatred of our sin. And we want to return you as the apple of our eyes. We will always love God with all our hearts! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
