PRAY WITH FAITH. Faith, how much do you have?

pray with faith

Always pray with faith. What is faith and how much do you have? Faith is the essence of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. When we were kids, we had faith that our parents loved us, that teachers never lied to us and we would wake up the next day. As we got older, our faith changed. Growing up in the fifties and sixties, there was the threat of a nuclear attack by the communists, we found that George Washington had wooden teeth, and teachers stretched the truth a might. But my parents still loved me. I found my faith in God grew deeper each day. I knew he would take care of me and all the problems I was having. So always pray with faith.

Bible about the Faith

“When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him. “Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizuresand is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.” “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.

Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:14-20)

What does it mean to pray with faith?

Verse 20 says, if I had the faith the size of a mustard seed, I could move mountains. I wasn’t worried about the mountain, I was worried about my finals and girls. Then I realized that these were MY mountains.

Verse 14 says that a large crowd was waiting for Jesus and his disciples. People always knew were Christ was going next. They were like Jesus groupies. And the people always knew that Jesus would talk to and heal people.

Verses 15 and 16 stated the problem. The father knelt at Jesus feet and said that his boy was mentally deranged and the boy falls into fire and water. So he brought the boy to the disciples and they couldn’t help.

Of course Jesus came to the rescue and ordered the demons to leave the boys body and they did. When the disciples asked why they couldn’t cast out the demons, Jesus said in verse 20, Oh you men of little faith. If you had faith the size of a small mustard seed you could tell that mountain to move and it would go far away.

We know that Jesus was upset at the disciples because verse 17 says, “Oh, you stubborn, faithless people! How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to me.” So you think God gets upset with us when we loose faith? If he does, does he show it?

Do we pray with faith?

Did some one count on you to do a favor for them and you let them down? More than likely. How did they react? Not well but I am sure they are still you friends. God handles things a lot better than you or I. He knows we are humans and that we’re not perfect. We as Christians let him down by our actions, words and deeds. But God is there to pick up the pieces and put us back together. The only thing you need is to pray with faith.

faith is the essence of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen

Faith is telling God that there is a problem and we believe he will take care of it. But as humans, we feel God needs a little help from us and we don’t LET GO AND LET GOD. Always pray with faith and God will help you.

A story I heard when I was young. A preacher would have an altar call and people would come up and pray. They would tell the pastor of their troubles and they would pray together. But every week that followed it was the same burdens. The preacher couldn’t understand why the same burdens were still there. Then one day while praying and doing his devotions, God told him to leave the burdens at the altar and don’t pick them up any more. The next Sunday, the preacher told his church what had to be done. The weeks that followed was like a revival in the church. People rededicated their lives to Christ and the church grew. Pray with faith believing and your prayers will be answered.
