SERVING JESUS CHRIST Prayer for December 15

serving Jesus Christ

Serving Jesus Christ. Prayer for December 15. Praise the Lord, everybody! When we were children, our main objective was to please our parents, to make them smile, and to make them proud of us. But, unfortunately, we sometimes extend the desire to please our parents to include pleasing people in general, which is dangerous for a Christian.

Bible Verse for Today

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10)

As Christians, we have an inborn desire to help people, encourage them and make them feel good. We have these feelings for the same reason we had them as children and want to please our Father in Heaven. Exhorting a brother or sister in Christ can be beautiful, but in our quest to uplift another person, we must be careful not to cross the line into pleasing people.

Paul, known not to mince words, lets us know in the above scripture that you cannot be a pleaser of men and a servant of Christ. When we seek to please people instead of God, we let Him know what is more important to us. We would rather keep our friends happy rather than God.

Paul stated, “if I were STILL trying to please men…” because he, like most of us, once found himself running around doing things to please men while thinking he was pleasing God.

For everything we do for God, we need to check with Him to make sure it is Him we are trying to please, not men or even ourselves. How do we do this? First, we must seek after the mind of Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Most of all, we must leave ourselves out of it. Self and personal pride have no place in the service of the Lord. The favor of man pales in comparison to the favor of God. God bless you all.

Serving Jesus Christ Prayer for Today

Lord, thank you so much for your love and care for us. Teach us to serve Jesus Christ and those who need our services and offerings of love. Help us, Lord, remember that trying to please men only leads to not pleasing you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
