Bad company corrupts good character – Prayer August 25

bad company corrupts good character

Bad company corrupts good character – Prayer for August 25. Praise the Lord, everybody. One of the biggest threats to Christians’ testimony is bad company! And I’m not talking about a rock band from the 80s or something.

Bible Verse for Today

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” (1 Corinthians 15:33)

No statement from Apostle Paul to the Corinthian church is truer than the one above. Almost every believer has a person, place, or thing that threatens their relationship with Christ.

Just as members of Alcoholics Anonymous are told to stay away from the people, places, and things that could cause them to relapse, Christians, especially new believers, also need to stay away from those people, places, and something that could lead them back into the world and their sinful natures.

At first, it can be very subtle. And you may not immediately notice that you are listening more and more to secular music and less and less to the Gospel, praise, and worship. Your enthusiasm gradually fades, and you become more interested in watching crappy videos on social media than listening to the Word of God.

As a result, your prayer life begins to suffer along with your Bible study, and before long, you begin to stop fellowship with other believers. There is a saying, “Don’t get too close to the world because the world will pull you back in before you can pull someone out.”

We as Christians must always stay plugged into our power sources:

  • God’s Word,
  • the Holy Spirit,
  • fellowship with other believers, and
  • prayer.

The Bible tells us, “What fellowship does darkness have with light?” a question we should never forget when we find ourselves leaning too far into the dark side. We can’t keep our lights shining bright if we recharge our batteries with darkness instead of light.

The world likes the dark and sees the light as a threat to its lifestyle, so it seeks ways to put out the light. So be careful with whom you spend quality time so your light will not slowly fade to black. God bless you all.

Bad Company Corrupts Good Character Prayer for Today

Father God, thank you for your word that tells us to be careful who we spend our time with. I know bad company corrupts good character, so I do my best to stay away. Lord, help us remain plugged into your word and your people. Let us not walk together with darkness nor be tempted by it. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
