Believing in Jesus is not enough – Prayer for April 22. We often say with our mouths that we love Jesus but we are not loving him as we supposed to love him. Let’s tell God to teach how to love him with the whole of our heart.
Bible Verse for Today
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.” (John 15:9)
Faith is believing in Jesus. Believing in Jesus is not enough. We must get closer to him and know him, it is when we know him that we love him. Falling in love with Jesus means following him and obeying all he says.
We must know him deeply, it is this kind of relationship that gives us knowledge of him. It is an invitation to love him and abide in him. Loving Jesus is also obeying him John 14:15 “If you love me, keep my commands.” But not just obeying him alone, we must set our affections and emotions on him too.
Jesus died for us and took all our sins away while we are yet a sinner because he loves us, that’s enough for us to love him with all our heart. We must replicate this love too. Loving Jesus has to do with faith, without faith it is impossible to please God and we won’t even believe in his word. To obey his word alone, we need to believe it, and then believing his word makes us love him.
It is not enough to say that we love Jesus, but we must also show it in our habits that we love Jesus.
Believing in Jesus is not enough Prayer for Today
Lord, I thank you because you love me, you care for me, and you are protecting me. You have been so wonderful to me right from the beginning and till now you are still wonderful. I know that believing in Jesus is not enough. Lord, I want to love you and to love you more. I want to obey all that you’ve told us to do for doing this shows the level of faith I have in you and how much I love you. Help me Lord to start obeying your words and follow your steps. Whatever you order me to do, give me the strength to do it well in Jesus name. Amen.
