Be Firm in your Beliefs Devotional

At the time of Jesus, Israel’s religious leaders they have established their own system based on the Bible. As is often the case today, there is the Gospel written in the Bible and the Gospel that your pastor preaches. And sometimes, your pastor’s gospel is far from the truth. So be firm in your beliefs.

Some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons.” (full text at Luke 11,14-23)

Be Firm in your Beliefs

The Pharisees were very angry with Jesus because his teaching destroyed their established religious system. Jesus was openly showing where their teaching was wrong. Because of this anger, they even dared to accuse Jesus of casting out demons with the help of Satan.

This is why it is so essential for each of us to know and deepen our faith.

For your part, you need to make sure that you serve the one and only God. You must be assured that Jesus Christ is your Savior and that He alone is the way to the Kingdom of God.

When you know Jesus’ position, God will give you grace and strengthen your faith. Then you will not be thrown off course by false teachings and human opinions. Be firm in your beliefs.

Don’t fall into Unbelief

We rejected and renounced all gods, idols, and demons when we were baptized. We confess the one, living, three-person God Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

But even though we have confessed, from time to time, we stray into questionable territory where our words and deeds begin to fall out of sync. If we do not love the Lord with all our body, soul, and heart, we are not in the Lord.

Then we are in the world, in our daily worries, maybe even in sin, but not in the Lord. This is what Sirach 2:12 says: “How terrible it will be for cowardly hearts and idle hands and for a sinner who sets foot upon two paths.”

Lent reminds us that we are the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. And if the space in your heart is empty, if God does not dwell in it, then that empty space is bound to be occupied by evil. Beelzebub and his friends would love to have some fun there.

Invite God into your heart today and ensure He is always pleased to stay there.

Prayer for Today

Jesus, You are Lord. You are the Savior. Today I invite you to come into my heart to free my life from sin. Please stay with me always. Amen.
