Palm Sunday Prayer – Daily Devotional for You

palm sunday prayer

Palm Sunday Prayer. When Jesus enters Jerusalem, people greet Him joyfully, ask for an autograph, or take a “selfie.” It seems that the superstar has arrived in the city. But people are happy not only because Jesus is well known from magazine covers. They are so glad they heard a lot about Him.

They have heard how Jesus speaks about God and His love for people. Also, people have heard that Jesus is on the side of outcasts and His healing stories. All these stories have touched people’s hearts.

People even started to dream that Jesus, like David, could be their good King. If Jesus becomes their King, the future will be without suffering, diseases, and fear. If Jesus rules, everybody will be sure God blesses and guards them.

Bible Verse for Today

“Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” (Zechariah 9:9)

Palm Sunday Is a Sign of God’s Love

The Bible shows a lovely scene. People’s joy is genuine and sincere. They meet Jesus with real honor, without any hypocrisy.

But why did Jesus come on the donkey? Why didn’t it come with some luxurious and splendid vehicle to show His status clearly and improve His image? Instead, Jesus, at the very peak of His honor, didn’t enhance His ratings but even humiliated Himself.

Here, we should pay attention to one detail. It seems that it was only for us that it was a triumph hour of Jesus. But it was an hour of self-determination. It is also an hour of revelation for people: God differs from how people imagine Him.

God suffers from the circumstances that people create in the world. And God allows us to blow Him on the earth because He doesn’t want to show status, power, and honor.

God only wants to show us His unconditional, all-embracing Love. Love is the most important for Him. (John 3:16)

On Palm Sunday, Jesus starts His way to Golgotha Hill. But we already know that when His triumph entry is finished, Jesus’ fans turn away and betray Him. Jesus remained faithful and loving until His death on the cross. He remains loving and faithful today after the resurrection. Let’s speak the Palm Sunday prayer together.

Palm Sunday Prayer

Heavenly Father, when your son Jesus entered Jerusalem, people greeted and honored Him. When Jesus was arrested, the same people insisted on His death. So, love can change into hate quickly. Please help us keep awake and see on time when we step out of the way of faith to the paths of sin. Father, let us notice on time when our love becomes unfair. Please give us the grace never to drift away from You. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
