Pray for your enemies – Prayer for October 10. How do you react when someone hurts you? Do you let it take away your joy? Or are your feelings going through with you? Luke 6: 27-28 tells us what to do when others hurt us: we should pray for them and bless them.

“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you” (Luke 6:28)
It is not a natural reaction to pray for the happiness of people who have insulted us. But God’s wisdom is so much greater than ours, and even if such a prayer does not feel right, it is just the thing.
That’s why we should obey and say, “Lord, I really do not feel like praying for the happiness of people who hurt me. But in faith, I do it anyway because you say I should bless you with your presence.”
We can’t deny what Jesus said for us.
We should overcome evil with good
Praying for these people is one of the hardest things that God requires of us. Especially if we are convinced that they are wrong and have not earned forgiveness, we should overcome evil with good. Speaking words of blessing and praying is one way to do that.

But God wants us to practice forgiveness. Those who choose the path of forgiveness will experience the peace and joy of obedience to God’s word. If you obey God, He can help you overcome the pain so that you can rejoice in life. Pray for your enemies!
Prayer for Today
Father God, we find it hard to forgive, but we pray for those who have hurt us. Our Lord, please bless them. Help us to release the pain and forgive our enemies. Lord, teach us to overcome evil with good. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
