Show our love for God – Prayer for January 29. There are different ways to prove love, one of which is to help others without expecting anything in return. Let’s tell God to teach us to show genuine love.
Bible Verse for Today
“If you love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)
People don’t really know what they call love. In this generation, people have mistaken love for lust. What is common in society right now is lust and not love.
There are many ways to prove our love. The first is in the Bible Text: if we claim to have love or to love God, then we must obey God. Loving God is not just about saying it; it is not only that way we can say we love God. Jesus said it plainly that if we want to prove our love for him, then we must obey him with all our hearts. Anything he says, we must be ready to do and to follow.
Paul knew what not having love can do to him. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3. It doesn’t matter your position in society or in the church; if you don’t have love, you will mean nothing to God. If you speak in tongues always and you prophesy without love, you will still mean nothing to God.
The nature of God is love. If you claim to know God and have no love, then you really don’t know God. 1 John 4:8 is a popular verse of the Bible that says, “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”
Another way to prove your love is by forgiving. Love is pure, and love forgives – if you don’t have a forgiving spirit, then you don’t have love in you. The Bible ordered us to forgive those who have offended us, just as God proved his own love by forgiving us.
If God can prove his love for us by sending his son to die for our sins, then it should be a very easy thing for us to prove our love, too.
Prayer for Today
Dear Lord, I thank you for loving me and for not leaving me in my sin to perish. You have proven to us that you love us by dying for our sins, even while we are yet sinners. Lord, I don’t want to love with my mouth alone; I want to show it too. I want to prove to you that I really have this love. I pray for the strength and grace to achieve this. Amen.
