Your attitude determines sin or grace. Devotional for February 11

attitude that produces sin or grace Devotional

Your attitude, not your food, produces sin or grace.

Once every ten years, a new style of spirituality, ideology, or movement becomes fashionable. The consumer crowd eagerly consumes this new folly of humanity. As a Christian, you are under pressure because living by God’s Word makes you look old-fashioned and out-of-date.

But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do. Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak. (full text at 1 Corinthians 8:7-13)

You are Free in Christ

We are free in Christ. And it doesn’t matter if we eat one food and avoid another. It doesn’t determine how much faith we have in ourselves. So, for example, you can be vegan and serve Satan. But you can just as quickly eat beefsteak and be the holiest person on earth.

It is not the food that defines who you are but your position in life. It is not ideology that determines your life but your relationship with God. When we read the New Testament, we see this.

Therefore, everyone is free to decide for themselves what food to eat.

It is your Attitude that produces Sin or Grace

Yes, your menu can often signal disorder in your life. For example, you eat a lot of unhealthy food. But in this case, the problem is not the food. The problem is in your unhealthy lifestyle. It is your irresponsible attitude towards your health that is the problem. Especially since food abuse and overeating are not only a problem, it is a sin.

It is not food that brings grace or sin. It is your attitude that produces either sin or grace.

Prayer for Today

God, to You, belongs all glory. You created the world, and all that exists. Thank You for creating me, for calling me to life. Also, thank You for allowing me to experience Your grace every day.

Please give me wisdom every day. I want to live to know Your truth, to understand Your Word, and to live according to Your will. Unfortunately, every day I am surrounded by many people who hold ideas that are contrary to Your commandments. Give me the light of understanding to recognize false teachings. Give me the strength not to be influenced by evil. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
