Ask God according to His will – Prayer for February 9. When you pray to God, stay in the corner of your room, and cry, calling Him to give you what you need, are you getting an answer? This is a question that we need to ask ourselves as Christians.
Bible Verse for Today
“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” (James 4:3)
Ask God According to His Will
This verse of the Bible is not uncommon to most of us as we are aware of it. The main reason why we don’t get the answers to our prayers is when we seek amiss.
We have often heard people complain that their prayers are not being answered. We complain sometimes, too, and it brings doubts, and we think God is not listening to us anymore.
Let Prayer Not Be Selfish
In most cases, I have found out that many people, when they ask from God, ask for some selfish reasons. God does not like selfishness. If He detects selfishness in our prayers, He will not be moved to answer it.
So we should remember this: He will not answer us if we ask Him something to satisfy our selfish desires.
Prayer Without Pride
Sometimes, we pray in our pride and ask God to show others we have what they don’t. It is like mocking other people for not having what we have.

Everything that we have came from God. He didn’t give us so that we will use it to oppress people but to help others in need. The key to receiving an answer to our prayers is asking by God’s will, which is for all people to be saved.
When we pray, we should ask for things that move people to give glory to God and wish to become Christians.
Prayer for Today
I know I might have been asking amiss, Lord. I might have been doing this consciously or unconsciously. And I pray that you forgive me and help me to ask what will glorify your name alone. Please help me not to oppress people with the things I have but to use them to help them and make them come to you. Direct my steps today and make me go the right path, Lord. Amen.
