All is vanity except knowing living God – Prayer for May 2. The Scripture clearly stated that all is vanity. Whatever we acquire on earth, we will leave behind someday, but what is not vanity is knowing the living God, because we receive the reward both on this earth and in heaven.
Bible Verse for Today
“I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.” (Ecclesiastes 1:14)
The passage made it clear that all of this life is vanity. Even though all is vanity, knowing living God is not vanity as it opens you to God and his words – it gives life through Jesus Christ, it opens our eyes to the riches and glorious things which God has for us.
When you know God and follow him, he gives hope. Colossians 1:27 “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
Knowing God has benefits, we get blessed. Abraham knew God, and he trusted in him; that was when God made a covenant of blessing with him. Not only was he blessed, but his entire generation was blessed too (Genesis 22:17).
Knowing the living God is not just knowing his existence; it is also about following him and doing all he has commanded. When you know God, you will show Love to those around you because God is love (1 John 4:8). We all desire to make an impact in this world; we want to do exploits and show forth the glory of God.
The simple way to this is to know God, his words, and to follow his ways. Daniel 11:32b “but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”
Prayer for Today
Dear Father, I thank you for the privilege you have given me to know you. It is an honor for me to know God. I want to follow you with all my heart. And I want to know you more than I used to. The reward of knowing a living God is eternal life through Christ Jesus, and life will not be a waste. Reward me with eternal life. Amen.
