Walk after the spirit and not after the flesh – Prayer September 10

walk after the spirit and not after the flesh

Walk after the spirit and not after the flesh – Prayer for September 10. Praise the Lord, everybody! As Christians, we should know that it is not the flesh but the spirit that must lead. And let me tell you something: YOUR FLESH DOES NOT CARE IF YOU GO TO HEAVEN OR NOT!

Bible Verse for Today

“I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.” (1 Corinthians 15:50)

No flesh can enter the kingdom of God. When it’s in charge, our flesh is like a “black hole,” sucking the life out of our spirit man. I know that sounds harsh, but it is what it is.

We need to stop feeding and petting our flesh, telling it “everything is going to be alright” when it cries out demanding that it be fed. Paul talks a lot about the flesh in Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

Paul talks about the flesh in many other places in his epistles. I’m not going to list them all here, but the point is clear: the flesh is often the enemy of the spiritual man. Sometimes, we must give blaming the devil a rest because it’s not always him – it’s our flesh. The flesh cannot be the strong man in your house, period!

The Holy Spirit and the flesh are like muscles; the one we exercise and nourish the most will be the dominant force in our lives. The flesh must die so the spirit may live and flourish in our lives. Don’t let your flesh keep you from going where it can’t go. God bless you all.

Walk after the Spirit and not after the Flesh Prayer for Today

Father God, we thank you for your precious Holy Spirit that you sent to dwell in us and comfort us. Lord, help us mortify our flesh so that your spirit may always remain as the “strong man” in our “house,” so we may always walk after it. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
