Beware of false prophets and false teachers – Prayer for July 28. Praise the Lord everybody. The Bible often tells us to watch out for false teachers and Prophets who would try and lead us astray with doctrine other than that which is taught in God’s word. But that is not always easy.
Bible Verse for Today
If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed. (2 John 10)
Let me tell you one example. Mother Johnson is a sweet, and caring person who at the same time is very security conscious when it comes down to her worldly possessions. She won’t open her front door for anybody unless they show ID or have the correct uniform on. Especially if she’s not expecting any deliveries or repairmen.
She is a very cautious woman, except when the lady from the Jehovah’s Witness knocks on the door. Mother Johnson is a Christian, but she does not study the word or know many doctrines. She is very careful about her physical security but with her spiritual security, she is very haphazard. She often lets the woman into her house and takes her literature to read, even though they will not take any literature or handouts not okayed by the Jehovah’s Witness organization, she even gives them donations!
In 2nd John verse 10, it says we should not let those who bring a different doctrine into our homes. (2 John 10) Mother Johnson is in her eighties now and is not trying to change so just continue to pray for her.
But you Christians who want to be nice to the “witness” that comes to your door, remember to maintain your spiritual security, and be nice enough to tell them the truth, the truth about the Gospel of Christ! God bless you all.
Beware of False Prophets and False Teachers Prayer for Today
Father God, please help us to stay anchored in your word and doctrine, teach us to beware of false prophets and false teachers bearing soft smiles and gifts. Father don’t let us open the door to the confusion brought to our doorstep by the enemy because we know you are not the author of confusion. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
