Beware of false prophets and false teachers – Prayer for July 28. Praise the Lord, everybody. The Bible often warns us to watch out for false teachers and Prophets who would try to lead us astray with doctrines other than those taught in God’s Word. But that is not always easy.
Bible Verse for Today
If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed. (2 John 10)
Let me give you an example. Mother Johnson is a sweet and caring person who, at the same time, is very security-conscious when it comes to her worldly possessions. She won’t open her front door for anyone unless they show ID or are wearing the correct uniform, especially if she’s not expecting any deliveries or repairmen.
She is very cautious, except when the lady from Jehovah’s Witnesses knocks on the door.
Mother Johnson is a Christian but does not study the word or know many doctrines. She is cautious about her physical security, but her spiritual security is very haphazard. She often lets the woman into her house and takes her literature to read; even though they will not accept any literature or handouts not approved by the Jehovah’s Witness organization, she still gives them donations.
Devotional for every day: Daily Devotional
2nd John 10 says we should not let those who bring a different doctrine into our homes. (2 John 10) Mother Johnson is in her eighties and is not trying to change, so continue praying for her.
But you Christians who want to be kind to the “witness” who comes to your door, remember to maintain your spiritual security and be gentle enough to share the truth —the truth about the Gospel of Christ. God bless you all.
Beware of False Prophets and False Teachers – Prayer for Today
Father God, please help us to remain anchored in Your Word and doctrine. Teach us to beware of false prophets and teachers bearing soft smiles and gifts. Father, don’t let us open the door to the confusion brought to our doorstep by the enemy because we know you are not the author of confusion. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
