faith without works is dead

Faith without works is dead – Prayer for January 18. One of the promises of God is that he will bless the works of our hands. For this reason, we need to get something doing and not be idle.

Bible Verse for Today

“The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.” (Deuteronomy 28:12)

There are most promises of God that will not come to fulfillment if there are no actions from us. God has promised to bless us, he will surely bless us because he cannot lie but we must play our own part in getting these blessings that he has promised.

We need to take action, we need to work – it is the works of our hands that he said he would bless. This is why it is written that faith without work is dead. There is no way we can expect so much and even put our hop or faith in God and refuse to work, it will be nothing but a dead faith.

It is a warning that we must keep away from idleness. 1 Thessalonians 3:16 “In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.”

It’s not bad to have time to rest, there is obviously time for everything but there is too much time of resting and doing nothing, there is a danger. Not working can open one to incessant chatting, it can make one be open to all sort of ungodly engagement.

Remember, faith without works is dead. If you want to make an impact in this world, you must make use of every opportunity and work hard. It is when you are working that God himself will bless what you are doing and make you prosper. Let’s tell God to bless the works of our hand today and save us from idleness.
