Seek God with all your heart – Prayer for April 8. During this time of Lent, two things must be present in us: faith and holiness must be what we dwell on. Faith assures us of things we hope for, and holiness draws us closer to God. Let us tell God to build our faith and give us the strength to abstain from the ungodly act.
Bible Verse for Today
“For it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16)
Faith is very important in this life. God loves those who have faith in Him, and he is not pleased with anyone who doesn’t have faith in him.
Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” God called Abraham, and he was promised by God that he would be the father of many nations. By faith, Abraham accepted this.
That’s a vision for Abraham, where he would be and what he would be in the future. Still, this same God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son, and with faith, Abraham obeyed God.
To receive from God, we must have faith in Him. We can’t go to someone we don’t believe in and ask for something. We must believe He lives, we must have faith in Him, and stand by His promises.
If we seek God with faith in our hearts, we will surely get what we want from Him. Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.”
Without holiness, we can’t see God. We can’t even move close to him. God cannot behold sin, and when we are filled with sin, we are automatically disqualified from receiving from God. Matthew 5:8 says, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” A life of holiness is very important to us as Christians as in draw us closer – God will only pour his spirit in a clean vessel, his spirit will only be in a holy heart.
There is a question asked in the book of Psalms about those who can enter into the place where God is, the place where treasures are kept. Psalm 24:3 “Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who may stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully.” The answer shows that those who are holy can enjoy the benefits of getting close to God and getting the treasures.
If we want to get this, we must abstain from anything that can stain us and deprive us of God’s blessings.
Prayer for Today
Lord, help me to build my faith in you. Please teach me your ways of holiness. If there are things that I do that corrupt me, I pray that you deliver me from them. Lord, help me to have faith in you to overcome sin. Amen.
